Everything is Bigger in Texas

Oh my goodness.. has it really been this long?! So sorry guys! You can't even imagine how busy it has been with graduation, traveling, and just everything else happening. I promise I will eventually write about all that! But for now, you haven't missed much. Just been busy busy busy but what's new? We are traveling back from Texas as I right this on my phone (at 5 am... Basically my only down time lately). We went to Texas to see Jakob play, we being me, the twins, and my friend Sidney. Thank god for travel buddies! Could not have kept my sanity if it weren't for the help.

The trip was a quick one that somehow managed to bring many problems. Go figure. For starters, we thought we could drive. L O L. I mean we did drive, but it really freaking sucked. After driving from AZ to IL many times, which is 24 hours exactly, anything less than that usually seems so easy. So when I saw it would be ONLY 13 hours, I thought, "heck yeah we can do this! No need to fly!" Wrong. Most of our trip was basically spent in the car, but the little ones surprisingly were rock stars! Jones had a few meltdowns...but nothing new there ;) Jakob and I have promised each other that from now on we will only be flying during our visits.

The other problem we ran into was my car basically breaking down on me. I could write an entire blog about all my feelings during those 4 hours of helplessness in parking garage. Long story short, I thought it was my push to start key fob, then thought it was my sterling system, and blah blah. No tow truck could come get me because they wouldn't fit into the parking garage. And my car was incapable of going into neutral or steering it out of the garage. BUT AT LAST it came down to simply being the battery that needed replaced. Wow. Talk about bad timing!! Ok wait. As inconvenient as it was, I am so thankful it happened while still in Texas with Jakob by my side. It could have been in the middle of no where during our 16 hour drive home. So I guess God just wanted us to have a couple extra (stressful) hours together. It was actually kind of funny because I somehow know more about cars than he does. I thought it was cute though :)

Another major problem we ran into was the humidity. Maybe if I had been blogging this past month someone could have warned me about that?! I went in with high hopes of curling my hair and doing my makeup all nice to look presentable for my fiancé who I only see once a month and those dreams were instantly crushed as soon as I stepped out of the car. I looked like I stood under the slime bucket the entire trip. The humidity did not agree with Penelope either! Her cute little curls turned into a wet, bushy afro. I have to admit it was adorable. But we were all so sweaty and sticky...it gave us a whole new appreciation for our dry heat in Arizona. BLESSED.

Problems aside, it was a great trip. Our once a month trips are meant to be short because anything longer is just too hard to adjust to with the twins. It really did feel like we spent the whole time in a car though. We drove through the night to San Antonio, the next night drove to Corpus Christi, and then the following afternoon drove back to AZ. So I am in dire need of a car wash, oil change, and hairspray. We spent what little free time we had going to Sea World, the beach, and of course going to Bdubs. I also always have to test out the shopping area of wherever Jakob is staying ;) Safe to say it was a good area! Came home with more than we left with. Oops.

I've attached some pictures from our trip down below. And I also promise to get back into regularly blogging... Just needed some downtime to adjust to summer classes and a new job! Enjoy!
